VILA VOLTAIRE

Vila Voltaire is the passion project of winemaking rockstar Stéphane Yerle. Over the years, Stéphane has been the consulting oenologist to estates such as Château Latour and Château Pibarnon, to name a few. Originally from the Basque region of France, he and his wife, Cécile, purchased vineyards in the Languedoc in 2000 — this is the region that Stéphane believes offers him the most freedom in his winemaking. Nestled between Saint Chinian and the Coteaux d'Ensérune, Vila Voltaire has always practiced organic farming (certifed since 2006) and works with a variety of indigenous grapes, with vines ranging from 30-110 years of age, to showcase Stéphane’s love for the region and its heritage.

A master in outils d’élevage (“tools” in elevage), Stéphane utilizes amphora (used first in 2012), acacia, French oak, and concrete in his cellar, which is tucked away on a back street of Cazouls-lès-Beziers in the Rue Voltaire.
